How important is E-A-T in SEO?








Do you ever heard of term E-A-T in SEO? Now, what's that? yes, I asked myself the same question a few months ago when I heard of this. I google the term as soon as I heard E-A-T in SEO and how is this important to rank your website on the search engine result page (SERP). So, in very basic terms, E-A-T stands for Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness. If your website has good E-A-T. there are better chances that your website ranking improves. E-A-T is important for a website but most of the SEO experts won't accept it as a major ranking factor. But still, somehow it's important. 

This term first comes from Google’s Search Quality Rater Guidelines—in 2013 to help webmaster what exactly looks for in a web page to show it on the first page or top. 


 Now you must be asking yourself is E-A-T is a ranking factor? 

Google in 2019 made E-A-T official to considered it is an important algorithm update. Is E‑A-T a ranking factor.


Then in my opinion yes it is. It might not be a major factor to get rankings but it should be considered as one now. Because let's think about it- what you really see first on a website? What makes a website interesting? It should be the content- which you can link its Expertise. Expertise means having large knowledge or Website reviews- which can be linked to Trustworthiness and Obviously website insights which is linked to Authority. 

But one issue with E-A-T is that while they're attractive characteristics of a website—they're on a very basic level human ideas. You can't advise a PC to rank pages with E‑A-T higher on the grounds that it just gets bits and bytes.

 And here's the answer from the Google itself:

 Firstly, Google Engineers thinks of changes algorithm calculations that might help a website in improving its ranking.

Secondly, Google Engineers show indexed lists to Quality Raters with and without the proposed change actualized. Their main responsibility is to give feedback to Google, and they aren't told which set of results is which.

 E-A-T is very important if your website but if your website is in law, financial, medical then demonstrating E-A-T would be crucial. Your website can be considered as YMYL. And honestly, most of the websites on the search engine is YMYL. Even if you are selling something through your website, your website comes under YMYL. And QRG tells that websites are lacking E-A-T considered it a low- quality website. So it is high time and it is important to considered E-A-T a ranking factor and helps in improving the ranking of your website. Performing E-A-T today might help your website in saving from other Google updates in the Future.
